This is an example of the work from Kenjiro Matayoshi I got several months after visiting him at his studio. This is a fusa ring commonly seen on the middle finger used in a dance to bring attention to the hand movements. It was a traditional wedding ring given to the daughter for marriage. Starting from top right going clockwise is the fish – representing abundant food, then is the Pomegranate – for prosperity of descendants, then the peach – for perpetual youth and longevity, next is the fan – everlasting happiness, the flower is for glamour or vitality in one’s life, the butterfly – a messenger from heaven, and last is the leaf – a wish you will always have cloths.
